Inventory organization should make useful items easier to find during decisions, not create a sorting project after every pickup.
1. Keep consumables easy to identify
Group potions, scrolls and other combat-use items so they are visible when a fight becomes difficult.
2. Separate active gear from experiments
Keep current equipment clear and move unused alternatives out of the way until you are ready to compare them.
3. Remove obvious clutter regularly
Sell or move low-value items before they turn every inventory screen into a search problem.
4. Distribute items by role
Put useful items on characters who are most likely to use them so access during combat is faster.
